A celebration of life for Philip Lee Elliott, 74, a 30-year Carson City resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Thurman's Ranch House, 2943 Highway 50 E.

Mr. Elliott died Jan. 25, 2007, at his home. He was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Monaca, Pa., to William P. and Frances Elliott.

He married Margaret Bagby on Oct. 16, 1965, in Norfolk, Va.

He graduated from New Brighton High School in 1950.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 20 years as a fighter pilot. He flew 88 air combat missions during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the 7th Fleet Acrobatic Flying Team, the Flying Brothers. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1974.

After his retirement from the Marine Corps, Mr. Elliott worked for the state of Nevada, retiring from the Department of Transportation as a budget analyst.

He was a member of the Carson City Host Lions Club, serving as both president and treasurer. He was also the president and chief umpire for the Carson City Babe Ruth League.

He enjoyed golf, traveling, vacations, fixing things and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Elliott.

Among his survivors are his wife of 41 years; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Andrew Everson of Carson City; daughter Sandra Beckman of Carson City; sons Dr. Steven Elliott of Carson City and Benjamin Elliott of Reno; son and daughter-in-law James and Erica Elliott of Reno; brothers William P. Elliott Jr. of Beaver, Pa., and James Donald Elliott of Escondido, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dat-So-La-Lee, a children's camp sponsored by the Lion's Club, care of Phyllis Barnes, 11000 Osage Road, Reno, NV.
