A memorial service for Robert "Bob" Turner, 73, a two-year Fernley resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kerak Shrine Temple in Reno, 4935 Energy Way.

Mr. Turner died Jan. 28, 2007, in Fernley.

He was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Ely, to Zeb Turner and Julia Inda.

He graduated from Fernley High School in 1952, and the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Reno in 1961.

He married Barbara Turner on Feb. 13, 1954, in Carson City.

Mr. Turner was a mining engineer for 40 years, traveling worldwide.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-56.

He was a member and past member of the Fernley Masonic Lodge no. 34, and a member of the Kerak Shrine in Reno.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Turner.

Among his survivors are his wife of 52 years, of Fernley; sons Mitchell and Donald Turner, both of Fernley, and Robert Turner of Dayton; daughter Lora Carnes of Reno; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Washoe Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
