A memorial service for Janice I. Harris, 84, a resident of Minden for 24 years, will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Lane Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris died July 2, 2007, at her home in Minden.

She was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Cleveland to Victor and Reba Hird McLeod. She married Lester J. Harris on Sept. 29, 1957, in Las Vegas. Prior to moving to Minden, she lived in Pomona, Calif.

Mrs. Harris graduated from high school and attended two years of community college. She taught piano and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Johnson Lane Baptist Church. She was the director for the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association (CHVA) and pianist for church services and church related events.

Among her survivors are her husband; daughters and sons-in-law Harriet and Gary Griffith, Irene and Robert Dorn, and Bonnie and Larry Pender; sister Ellen McLane; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Alan Hussleman; brother Donald McLeod; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Johnson Lane Baptist Church, 1581 Johnson Lane, Minden, 89423.

Internment will take place at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. FitzHenry's Carson Valley is in charge of the arrangements.
