A funeral for Melba Jo Medlin, 83, an Albuquerque, N.M., resident for the past seven years, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Medlin died June 4, 2007, at Montebello Retirement Home. She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Bonham, Texas, to Omer and Georgia Alice Neighbors.

Before moving to Albuquerque, she lived in Casa Grande, Ariz.; Tipton, Calif.; Abernathy, Texas; Ephrata, Wash.; Smith Valley; Selah, Wash., and Gardnerville.

She graduated from Abernathy High School and attended nursing school in Lubbock, Texas.

She married Kit Medlin Dec. 17, 1938.

Mrs. Medlin worked in a grocery store in the meat department, she was a bookkeeper and she managed a motel in Ephrata. She enjoyed crafts, playing bridge, cooking, entertaining and working crossword puzzles daily.

Among her survivors are her son Danny and his wife Tanyi of Portland, Ore.; granddaughters Margie and husband Jason Mills of Antelope Springs, Calif., and Mary Jo of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren Kyle and Kellie Mills and many extended family members.

She will be buried beside her husband at Hillcrest Cemetery in Smith Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ambercare Hospices, 2129 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque, N.M. 87113; Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville 89410 or to a charity of choice.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
