An unidentified woman is being sought by police for passing a phony check at a Carson City casino.

Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour is asking the public to help identify the unknown woman shown in a surveillance video still shot captured on Feb. 24 at the Carson City Nugget.

He said the woman presented the cashier with a counterfeit check drawn against Sierra Pacific Power for $700. She was able to get the check cashed without giving her fingerprint and used fake identification. Motamenpour said she used the name Carrie Edmonds.

The woman is described as middle-aged, with long dark hair, a large nose, thin build and standing about 5-foot-3-inches to 5-foot-4-inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carson City Sheriff's Detective Division at 887-2020 ext. 1400.
