A Mass for Juan Gutierrez Cruz, 28, a Minden resident for the past 22 years, will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
A Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Mr. Cruz died June 9, 2007, in Sparks. He was born Oct. 30, 1978, in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Joaquin and Esther Cruz.
He graduated from high school and attended two years of college at Cerro Coso Community College.
Mr. Cruz worked for Granite Construction.
He was a member of St. Gall church. He enjoyed baseball and other sports.
He was preceded in death by Miguel Gutierrez and Ramon Gutierrez, both of Mexico.
Among his survivors are his girlfriend Monica Martinez and daughter Adriana Rodriguez, both of Sparks; parents; sister Ivone Cruz; brother David Cruz and niece and nephew Joanna Vasquez and Diego David Velazquez.
Burial will be at the Mottsville Cemetery.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
