Durbin, Jones-Halford win ladies team roping

RENO - Shea Durbin and Kelly Jones-Halford teamed up to win first place in the Reno Rodeo Ladies Team Roping Invitational Wednesday morning at the Indoor Arena at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

Durbin and Jones-Halford had a time of 45.41 to win the $20,000 first prize. Tammy Ellerman and Jimmi Jo Ripson finished second at 45.43, splitting $10,000.

Cindy Waters and Bonnie Beers were third at 53.49, earning $5,000, while Roxann Hadley and Tara Twisselman were fourth and shared $4,500. Fifth place went to Melody Chapman Schmidt and Dani Meador, who shared $4,000.

Round winners were Peggy Bach and Lindsey Yost, Tammy White and Tammy Lewis, and Jordan Jo Fabrizio and Debbie Fabrizio. Each round winner earned $1,500.

Schmidt earned an additional $2,000 for having the fastest short-go time. Waters and Beers won another $1,500 and Hadley and Twisselman split $1,000 for third place.

DILORETTO RESULTS

Shane Wallace and Rich Albisu logged a combined time of 37.39 to win the annual Perry DiLoretto Roping Invitational on Tuesday and $200,000 in prize money.

Keith Jacobs and Mike Greenough were second at 38.56, and the duo split $100,000. Joe Morrow and John Morrow finished third at 40.36 and split $60,000, and Kenny Drake and Roy Shirley were fourth at 42.27, sharing $50,000. Tim Terkelsen and Howard Gwynn were fifth and won $30,000.

Darwin McGowan and Lonnie Shoemaker were sixth ($25,000), Frank Rose and Sonny Cowden were seventh ($22,000), Art Whiting and A.J. Whiting were eighth ($18,000), Keith Dimond and Ron Treat were ninth ($17,000) and Ray Borzini and Jerome English were 10th ($16,000).

IN THE ARENA

Andy Martinez, who has qualified for the NFR three straight years, heads the list of bareback riders for tonight's performance.

Clay Tryan and Walt Woodard head the team ropers, along with Wade Ryan and Brock Andrus. Brittany Pozzi-Pharr is the top barrel racer in action tonight. Levi Wisness is one of the top steer wrestlers in action.

ON TAP

The ninth annual National Team Penning Championship is set for 7 a.m. at the Indoor Arena, while the team penning and 2-man ranch sorting gets under way at 8 a.m., also at the Indoor Arena.

A reminder is that Saturday is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night, and the finals will be televised live (Channel 8) for the first time in Reno Rodeo history.
