A memorial service for Paula Louise Holmes, 44, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Holmes died June 16, 2007, in Concord, Calif. She was born Nov. 25, 1962, in Nashville, Tenn., to John William and Janae Briggs Holmes.

She graduated from high school and attended two years of college.

Mrs. Holmes served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. She received the Kuwait Liberation Medal and the Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.

Among her survivors are daughter Alicia Veangas and stepson Christopher Stafford, both of Mount Vernon, Wash.; parents; stepfather Charles Murray; sisters Tamara Burnet and Debra Grubbs; granddaughter Ava Kennedy Stafford and a niece and two nephews.

Cremation will be at Walton's Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
