A graveside service for Robert Elliott Samms, 83, a Yerington resident, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Valley View Cemetery with military honors provided by Schurz All Indian VFW Post 6825.
Mr. Samms died June 19, 2007. He was born April 25, 1924, in Yerington.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was an athlete and enjoyed playing horseshoes.
Among his survivors are his son Lawrence Sam; grandchildren Robert Lujano, Brandon Williams, Brandi Sam, Tashina Brown, Daniel Trujillo, Tavaduwatte Sam and great-grandson Daniel Williams.
