Painters sought for help with Lady Godiva's costume

Mark your calendars for Sunday. The historical statue at the corner of Emerson and Arrowhead drives in North Carson City will be getting a new coat of paint.

Lady Godiva is looking for a few good men and women to lend their artistic talents to the project. Rudy Romo has always been known for the crazy stuff in his front yard and if you haven't noticed lately , it's time to paint.

Sunday is Romo's 61st birthday celebration and the time set for Lady Godiva's new look on life. Aspiring artists are needed to help paint the Lady. Paint will be provided. Artist are asked to show up 1:04 p.m. Sunday. Call Karin Tancrell at 720-0284 or e-mail karintancrell@yahoo.com.

Mountain Adventure Kamp starts Monday

A Mountain Adventure Kamp designed for those who love to have fun doing mountain sports will be offered to students grades fifth through seventh. Campers will participate in a ropes adventure course, rock climb outdoors, kayak at Tahoe and mountain bike. The camp is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the cost is $200 per participant. Call 887-2290, ext. 101

Orphan meet and car show today

The Sagebrush Studebakers present an orphan meet and car show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. today at Fuji Park. Registration is from 8-10 a.m.

Entry fee is $15 at the gate.

Fiddle workshop still has openings

The Saline Fiddlers workshop from 3-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Genoa Town Hall is open to any string player with two or more years of experience.

There is no charge to participants; however, preregistration is required.

The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Fourth of July Chicken Barbecue from noon until sold out at the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department.

Cost is $10 per dinner.

Brass Band plays at River Ranch

For the past three decades, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional brass band music of New Orleans, combined it with funk, jazz, gospel and soul, and introduced it to the rest of the world.

Sample this New Orleans sound at the River Ranch at 9 p.m. Monday.

Advanced tickets are $15 and available at River Ranch, 2285 River Road in Tahoe City.
