A memorial service for Kevin V. Hettich, 71, a Carson City resident, will be 1 p.m. March 13 at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

He died Feb. 28, 2007, at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hettich was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Chicago to S. Cyril And Cecelia Rachor Hettich.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education at Iowa State University in 1956. He moved to Fallon in 1965, then to Reno, then Carson City.

Mr. Hettich served in the Air National Guard units for 22 years in Iowa, Wisconsin and Nevada from 1953-1975, and in the Active Airforce Reserve 1975-1981, retiring as a major.

He worked for the Nevada State Welfare Department as a senior management analyst and retired in 1993. He was an 18-year member of AA.

He was preceded in death by his brothers The Rev. Blaise, OSB, and Mark and David.

Among his survivors are his wife Judith L. Jones Hettich, of Carson City; daughter Rebecca Haynes of Battleground, Wash.; son Steven of Sparks; sister Sister Mary, SSSF, of Cambellsport, Wisc.; brothers Leo Hettich of Reno and Paul Hettich of Antioch, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

FitzHenry's Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
