A funeral service for Fern Bearce, 95, a 32-year Carson City resident, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with Rev. William McCord officiating.

Mrs. Bearce died March 8, 2007, at her daughter's house following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 5, 1911, to Edna and Clarence Seward in Mapleton, Iowa.

She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1929, and married Harold "Hank" Bearce on Oct. 4, 1941, in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Bearce lived in Oakland, Calif.

She worked for Cook's Oil Co., which later became Signal Oil and finally Exxon. She was later a bookkeeper for Dr. William O'Shaughnessy for 19 years.

She was an active member of the Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi and the First Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 3, 1978, and a sister, Glennis Fennell.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Bill O'Shaughnessy of Carson City; sisters Maythel Jaquith of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Darleen Ray of Seattle, and three granddaughters.

A private burial will be held at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
