All-Sierra Nevada boys basketball

Keith Olson, 6-10, sr., Douglas: A fourth-time All-Sierra Nevada selection, Olson earned first-team all-region and all-league honors during a season in which he led the 23-9 Tigers in scoring (16.1 points per game) and shot 55 percent from the floor this season. Olson averaged 15 points or better during each of his four varsity seasons and finished as the school's career scoring leader (1,905 points unofficially). He has signed with Northern Arizona.

Luke Babbitt, 6-8, jr., Galena: The forward led Galena's boys to their first state basketball championship. Northern 4A Player of the Year and co-player of the year in 2006. High Desert League Player of the Year. Just a junior, Babbitt has already verbally committed to Ohio State. Babbitt averaged 26.03 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, plus his 50 3-pointers ranked second on the team.

Tristan Hill, 6-4, sr., Galena: His stats may not reflect it - he averaged 9.3 points per game - but Hill was a clutch player who came up with key plays at big times down the stretch for the state champion Grizzlies. The first-team all-region and all-league performer led the Grizzlies in 3-point goals with 55.

J.D. Peters, 6-2, sr., Galena: Another clutch player, the guard earned first-team all-league recognition. Peters led the team in steals and ranked third in rebounds. He averaged 8.6 points per game.

Will Holbert, 6-2, jr., Carson: Second-team all-region and all-league. After initially adjusting from the junior varsity, the 6-foot-2 junior guard caught fire during Sierra League play. Holbert was deadly from beyond the arc. He also showed an ability to penetrate defenses with his ball-handling and frustrate offenses with his quickness.

Mike Gransbery, 5-11, sr., Douglas: Gransbery's play at point guard was one reason the Tigers advanced to the regional tournament championship game - where they lost by one point to Galena - Gransbery earned first-team all-region and all-league recognition during a season in which he averaged 13.6 points plus led the team in steals and assists.

K.J. Allister, 6-2, sr., South Tahoe: The third-year varsity veteran was selected as a first-team all-league and second-team all-region guard. He averaged 16.1 points per game during a season in which he finished as the second-leading scorer and top 3-pointer shooter for the Vikings.

Erik Hopper, 6-1, sr., Dayton: An all-around player who helped lead the Dust Devils to a 26-4 season and trip to the 3A state championship game. In the end, Hopper was named Northern 3A MVP for a season in which he averaged 11.0 points, led the team in 3-point goals with 55 and in steals, and ranked second in assists. Hopper is a repeat All-Sierra Nevada selection.

Garey Smith, 5-11, sr., Yerington: The point guard reaped rewards for his hard work during the offseason as he improved and earned first-team all-league plus all-state honors for a team that finished second in the Northern 3A and advanced to the state tournament. Smith led the Lions in scoring (14.3 average) and had a team-high 45 3-pointers.

Erick Geddes, 5-11, sr., Silver Stage: A third-year starter, Geddes was the offensive and defensive leader for a team that went 22-6 - more wins than the Nighthawks had posted in four previous seasons combined. Geddes earned first-team all-league and second-team 2A all-state honors. A Versatile athlete who could play any guard position, Geddes averaged 17.5, nearly 4 assists and 4 steals per game.

David Bozsik, 6-0, sr., Smith Valley: Boszik set the state record for 3-point field goals in a season at 124 and in the process set the single-game 3-point mark of 14 at home against Virginia City. Boszik averaged 20.2 point and 8.1 rebounds per game to help the 21-11 Bulldogs win the Northern 1A state title and advance to the state tournament. "He is an excellent student and role model for our school," coach David Vick said.

Honorable mention: Brice Crook, Galena; Eric Maupin, Galena; Paul Cagle, Carson; Jeff Nady, Douglas; Vince Capellino, South Tahoe (17.2 ppg); Billy Sorenson, Fallon; Michael Forte, North Tahoe; Sean Arrington, Fernley (first-team all-league).
