A gathering in honor of Joan Loretta Mackey, 60, will be at 5 p.m. April 7. Interested parties are asked to call 265-9118 for details.
Ms. Mackey died March 13, 2007, at her daughter's home, 11 years after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She was born April 25, 1946, in Orange County, Calif., to George and Ellen Trumbo.
She married Richard Mackey when she was 18. They later divorced.
She worked as a correctional officer for several California prisons, including San Quentin, and then worked as an investigator for the State Contractor's License Board, retiring after 20 years with the state.
She enjoyed people, dancing, humor and listening to her friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and son Richard.
Among her survivors are her mother; daughter Kelly; son David and two grandchildren.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
