High school juniors throughout Nevada are invited to apply for the American Legion's Boys' State program. This summer leadership program allows 150 of the state's top high school boys to form a mock legislature, judiciary and executive branch as delegates from areas of Nevada. Students in public, private and home schools are encouraged to apply by visiting www.nevadaboysstate.org. There is a similar program for young women run by the American Legion Auxiliary called Nevada Girls' State.

New arts education Web site provides resources

The Nevada Alliance for Arts Education has a new Web site for arts educators, families and the general public's use and reference. The NAAE, a member of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network, promotes the arts as essential to a quality education for all Nevada students.

The new site, Nevada-aae.org, helps provide Nevada's educators with resources. It also provides educators and families with an opportunity to share ideas, recognize effective techniques and educators, and support the arts in education through the site's blog.
