Kids' carp fishing derby at Lahontan Reservoir

The Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) is sponsoring a free, carp fishing derby for kids on Saturday, June 2 that will be held at Lahontan Reservoir.

The derby will start at 8 a.m. and end at noon.

The meeting place will be at the North Boat Ramp at Lahontan Reservoir. That ramp is located just off U.S. 50 between Silver Springs and Fallon.

There will be a contest for the largest carp caught with categories separated by age groups.

There is a minimum age of 3 years.

A parent or guardian must accompany all children.

Registration is required.

A limited number of rods are available for use by those who do not have their own fishing equipment. Participants are requested to provide their own fishing tackle.

A fishing license is required for 12 years old or older.
