A funeral for Shirley Larue Devereaux, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 35 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Devereaux died May 21, 2007, in Carson City. She was born July 19, 1934, in San Jose, Calif., to Joseph and Esther Hamilton Nicholas.

She married Maurice Devereaux on Oct. 16. 1963, in Reno.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in California.

Mrs. Devereaux was a homemaker.

She was a member of Fountainhead Four Square Church. She enjoyed her church, reading, gardening, traveling and her family.

She was preceded in death by her sister Frances Benham.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law Lora and Fred Droes and daughter Sherry Devereaux, all of Carson City; sisters Grace Sopha, Anita Clair and Martha Bennett, all of California and Linde Mowrer of Alaska; brothers Donald Preston and James Preston, both of California; grandchildren Shannon Devereaux and Katherine Devereaux, both of Reno and Alexander Juback of Carson City and several extended family members.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Nevada, 705 S. Wells, Reno, NV 89502.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
