The Carson Pop Warner Mitey Mite Blue Senators lost a hard fought game against rival Douglas Black 19-6 on Friday.

Douglas began the game with a six play scoring drive to take an early 6-0 lead. Carson answered with a nice drive of its own but stalled after a fumble recovery by Douglas.

The Carson defense played very well and created a turnover on the Tigers' next possession. The Senators tied the game on a nice touchdown run by Derek Schafer. The half ended in a 6-6 tie.

The Senators' first drive of the third quarter ended when they were forced to punt. Douglas scored the go ahead touchdown on a gritty six play drive making the score 13-6. An onside kick recovered by the Tigers led to their other touchdown to make the score 19-6.

Carson's defense played well considering they were on the field for the majority of the second half. The defense was led by Conner Larkin, Spencer Berger, Anthony Miguel, Brandon Basa, Jesse Knorzer, Nick Andreas, Tristan Martel, Kyle Gagnon, Jarod Butler, Hunter Wheeler, Luke Myers. Mathias Williams, David Moniz-Lewis, Alec Fletcher and Bodee Brennan all played well offensively.

"Douglas is a tough place to play,"" Carson coach Bret Andreas said. "But the support from our parents and fans was awesome."

Carson's season will end in the Snow Bowl next weekend.
