The following people are being sought by Carson City Sheriff's Department investigators:

• Christopher Nelson, 21, is wanted for allegedly registering a false address when he registered as a sex offender here on Friday.

When Detective Bob Motamenpour went to the Carson City shelter where Nelson had registered, the investigator learned that Nelson did not live there, nor had he ever.

Nelson is described as 6 feet, 4 inches tall, with hazel eyes and brown hair. He weighs 165 pounds.

In September 2006, Nelson pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor lewdness in connection with the attempted downloading of child pornography. A computer expert testified that Nelson had downloaded incomplete picture files with titles that would indicate they contained child porn, but that Nelson never opened the files, and that the files did not actually contain child porn. As a condition of his plea agreement, Nelson is required to register as a sex offender.

• Michele F. Caretto, 25, is wanted in connection with a series of bad checks that have been passed at a number of local businesses, said Motamenpour.

Motamenpour said Caretto has passed counterfeit payroll checks from Baker Drywall, Capital Drywall, Diamond Moters & Pawn Inc. (with the word "motors" misspelled) and B&C Cabinet & Millwork.

Caretto is described as a white male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown hair and black eyes.

His last known address was 6369 Highway 50 East.

• Scotti Doranne Brown, 46, is wanted for questioning in a counterfeit check ring after the arrest of Brown's friend Janine Nish, 47.

Motamenpour said Brown allegedly provided Nish with personal information gleaned from records at a real estate office where Brown was employed.

Brown is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall with blond hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen Thursday running from the real estate office on South Carson Street, said Motamenpour.

He said she is known to frequent Reno and she had been staying at the Desert Inn Motel but was evicted last week.
