A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on a felony warrant after he ran a stop sign and almost struck a passing police car.

Timothy Lewis Broughton, 43, a meat cutter, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony parole violation, felony possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, misdemeanor failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to obey a traffic control device and driving without a valid license.

According to the arrest report, Lt. Ken Sandage was eastbound on College Parkway at 5:35 p.m. when Broughton allegedly ran the stop sign at Imperial Way onto College Parkway.

"Lt. Sandage had to swerve to avoid a collision with the pickup," according to the report.

Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies allegedly found prescription pain pills and discovered that Broughton had a felony warrant.

No bail was set.
