120 YEARS AGO


The pine-nut crop has been unusually heavy this year. Already 1,000 sacks of pine nuts have been shipped from this city by the railroad. These shipments weighed about 75,000 pounds and not one-half of the pine-nuts gathered in the mountains have reached the city.


100 YEARS AGO


Gov. Sparks is in daily receipt of numerous letters from all parts of the state asking that he provide some kind of aid to postpone payment of taxes which become delinquent next Monday. The principal people who are making the demand are large property owners.


70 YEARS AGO


The city has purchased a large V plow which will be used on city-owned highway snow control this winter. The plow has a cover that will allow the driver to be protected from the cold.


50 YEARS AGO


The Carson 20-30 club has elected Bob Jacques president; Bob Cain, vice president; George King, secretary-treasurer; and Rick Menzies, sergeant at arms. The organization discussed its annual sale of Christmas trees.


20 YEARS AGO


Carson quarterback John Eck, who threw a league-leading 18 touchdown passes and teammate Carlos Mendeguia, Eck's favorite target and the league's top receiver, were named to the North AAA Coaches All-League team today.


10 YEARS AGO


Western Nevada Community College officials have raised $180,000 toward the $500,000 needed for a new technology center.
