Charles W. Schlager died at his home in Carson City on November 17, 2007.

He was born on June 9, 1919 in Los Angeles California to Phillip and Martha Schlager. He grew up in Las Vegas Nevada, where he played football at Las Vegas High. He continued to play at the University of Nevada and in his senior year he was captain of the team. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. In 1942 he joined the Marine Corps and landed on Guam, Iwo Jima, and Bougainville. He received the Bronze Star for his bravery in action. Upon his return in 1945, he married his college sweetheart Aileen Mahoney and they had three children.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, his sons Patrick Schlager and Joseph Schlager, and his grandson Matthew Schlager.

His daughter Thea Anderson and her husband Chris of Carson City and his beloved grandchildren Sara and Stephen Anderson survive him.

He will be remembered for his honor and strength.

He will be buried in Elko Nevada. No services will be held. Autumn Funerals & Cremation has been entrusted with the Arrangements.
