Dayton's ghosts to return on Friday

The "Ghostly Pioneers of Old Town Dayton Return ... Again," a free walking tour to be held from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday beginning at the Dayton Schoolhouse Museum, Sandy Lane at Logan.

Walkers can pick up a "Ghostly Map," a walking tour guide to the spirits, and see Old Town come alive with miners, emigrants, merchants, officials, townspeople and characters " both respectable and unusual. Children can get their maps stamped by the spirits and win prizes.

Lawman Chester Barton wandering Old Town looking for lawbreakers, Fannie Hazlett, who wrote Dayton's first history, will be hanging out near her house on Gold Creek, Mary Matilda Fowler Johns Lothrop McDowell Stiles, who had four husbands and who built the first Union Hotel will be there, along with many others.
