Lamborn car on display Saturday

Carson City supermodified racecar driver Dale Lamborn will have his car on display from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday during the Nevada Day parade, at the Flower Bucket, 651 S. Carson St.

Lamborn will have the No. 48 bright yellow car on hand for pictures and will sell his team T-shirt to raise additional funds to travel to the fifth annual North-South Supermodified Shootout race in Concord, N.C. Nov. 2-3.

Lamborn is considered one of the top contenders representing drivers from the West Coast in competition against the East Coast drivers. He is also seeking additional sponsorship. For information, contact Lamborn at C48win@charter.net or 691-2525.

Junior Pee Wees pick up shutout win

The Carson Junior Pee Wee football team shut out Feather River 26-0 on a cold, wind night on Friday at Governor's Field.

Josiah Pongasi opened the game with a 50 yard dash for the first score. The offense was rolling on all cylinders at all positions. Nicholos Mohlenkamp scored two touchdowns, the first bouncing outside and streaking for a 15 yard score. The point after was pushed in by Kenny Frank.

Later in the game, Mohlenkamp again took the hand off and roared in for the 15 yard touchdown. Colby Brown took the snap and swept around for the extra point. Brown threw a 10 yard pass to Jonathan Kondor who laid out for the diving touchdown reception to finish the scoring.

Defensively, the Senators mixed things up and moved players around all night allowing them to play in other positions. The defense made numerous sacks and tackles for losses.

"The kids got to play all over, it was good experience," defensive coach Jason Maffei said. The defense ended the regular season with its third consecutive shut-out.

The team will next play at 6 p.m this Friday at Governor's Field against the Sparks Raiders in the first round of the playoffs.
