Motorists can expect minor delays on Highway 50 West to Spooner Summit beginning Monday, as a resurfacing project gets underway by the Nevada Department of Transportation.

The $7.7 million contract, awarded to A & K Earth Movers of Sparks, includes resurfacing nine miles of Highway 50 from the junction with South Carson Street to the Douglas County line.

Motorists can expect one lane closures both east and westbound during construction which is expected to be completed this fall.

A separate $8.5 million contract, awarded to Q & D construction of Reno, to resurface U.S. 50 from the Douglas County line to Nevada Beach Road is expected to begin May 5 and be completed in the fall.
