Residents to be honored for tourism excellence


Carson City residents will receive Excellence in Tourism awards Thursday at the Nevada Commission on Tourism's annual Rural Roundup conference in Elko.


Janet Jones, group sales manager for the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, received an Excellence in Tourism Award for her strong commitment to the region, participating in trade and consumer shows and developing niche and motorcoach markets.


Chris Gibbons of Carson City, administrative assistant for the Nevada Indian Commission, received an Excellence in Tourism Award for helping to implement a Rural Tourism Grant to promote tribal outreach and assisting with an Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada conference.
