New Carson River Aquatic Trail signs going up

Signs warning boaters about whitewater rapids and other challenges on the Carson River Aquatic Trail are going up today.

They will be put up at 10 a.m. by an access site near the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Carson City Field Office at 5665 Morgan Mill Road, south of Deer Run Road and U.S. Highway 50 East.

The 14-mile trail runs from the Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City to the Santa Maria Ranch in Dayton.

The Carson River Regional Recreation Steering Committee is in charge of developing the route. It has representatives from the Carson City Board of Supervisors, Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, Carson Water Subconservancy District, Lyon County Board of Supervisors, Lyon County Planning Department, Nevada Commission on Tourism, Nevada Division of State Lands and Western Nevada Resource Conservation & Development.
