Storey planner loses job

Vince Angle, who was hired as a senior planner for Storey County to help with issues relating to the fast-growing Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, has been let go.

"They said they didn't like my attitude," Angle said. "The brothels run the county and I didn't want to play ball."

Angle said he plans on returning to the teaching profession, something he did before he changed to planning.

County Manager Pat Whitten confirmed Angle was no longer with the county as of April 8, but declined to say more because it was a personnel matter.

Angle was hired in November, the first senior planner Storey County has had, after spending a year as an associate planner with the City of Reno. Before that he worked for Poggemeyer Design Group.

He had been working on writing ordinances related to growth, water and open space.

Angle, 31, started his career in education, but later decided planning was more to his liking.

Angle worked with developers on growth issues, researched statutes, wrote ordinances and presented projects to the planning commission.

Building Official Dean Haymore said the county would advertise for another planner soon.
