The body of a Sparks man who didn't show up for work Monday morning was found along with his motorcycle Monday night down an embankment and 160 feet from the road, a Storey County official said Tuesday.
Brandon Brasher, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene inside the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center 14 miles east of Reno at about 9:30 p.m.
Corporal Jeff Bower said Brasher's boss at a construction company became concerned when Brasher didn't show up for work. After making phone calls and learning Brasher had last been seen Sunday afternoon on his motorcycle, the employer decided to drive the route he knew Brasher would take.
"He just kind of backtracked and that's when he found it. The guy knew that (Brasher's) motorcycle was red in color. He saw a small piece of red debris on the dirt shoulder and decided to investigate," said Bower.
It appears that Brasher was speeding when he attempted to make the turn from McCarran Road onto Peru Drive, Bower said.
"He left the rode at a straight angle, struck a marker post, was immediately ejected and he and motorcycle traveled 160 feet and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment," he said. It's not known if the accident happened Sunday or Monday.
The officer said had Brasher's boss not become concerned, there's no telling when his body would have been discovered.
"There were no witnesses and no real indication that the accident had happened," he said. "There was just some light debris around. Nothing was visible from the road."
Brasher's family in Colorado and Massachusetts have been notified of his death.
