Women's Expo and Taste of Home Cooking School coming to Carson in fall

The Nevada Appeal, The Record-Courier and Glow magazine are planning the area's first Women's Expo in conjunction with the nationally acclaimed Taste of Home Cooking School on Sept. 19-20. The Women's Expo will include more than 40 local vendors, live demonstrations and hourly drawings for great prizes.

The Taste of Home Cooking School will present two live cooking demonstrations with creative ideas for fall dining and entertaining. Autumn brings cooler weather, hearty appetites and a longing for comfort food without spending endless hours in the kitchen. Shortcuts to cooking healthy, eye appealing meals are sought after by new-to-the-range as well as seasoned cooks, alike. Today's cooks want that flavor punch without all the fuss.

Start with a variety of local vendor exhibits, blend in 10 quick and delicious recipes, add a good measure of special door prizes awarded to a number of lucky winners and top that off with a gift bag for every attendee. "We have a program chocked full of fun, food facts and quick-to-fix recipe ideas for you to try at home," boasts Kristi Larson. "It's a culinary extravaganza. OK, maybe not an extravaganza, but definitely a lively demonstration of impressive dishes that are easy to prepare. Imagine, 'Lava Chocolate Cakes', warm and gooey from the oven, baked as individual little cakes, served with whipped cream, invites Kristi Larson. Listen for the wows as your guests cut into the cakes and watch the chocolate lava ooze onto their forks. Warm, rich and chocolately, what says comfort more on a cold autumn day?"

Tickets will go on sale on Aug. 11 at the Nevada Appeal and The Record-Courier offices. Check out nevadaappeal.com and recordcourier.com for the complete Women's Expo and Taste of Home Cooking School schedule with information on ticket prices and outlets.

Taste of Home Wining Recipes cookbooks will also be available for purchase at the event, or may be purchased in advance for $29.95 by calling the Nevada Appeal at 882-2111 or The Record-Courier at 782-5121.
