Plenty new faces in Nevada starting lineup

RENO " Nevada will have several new faces in the starting lineup when it hosts Grambling State Saturday night (6:05 p.m./ESPN Radio) at Mackay Stadium.

On offense, Kevin Bohr has beaten out Junior Puloka at tight end and Brad Eskew is slated to start at guard.

Jerome Johnson has moved to strong-side linebacker in place of Adam Liranzo and redshirt freshman Brandon Marshall slides into Johnson's old spot. Ryan Coulson will start at defensive end in place of Kevin Basped, who still isn't quite 100 percent from injuries suffered in training camp.

"Bohr is starting to come around," Nevada coach Chris Ault said. "He's a better run blocker. He's been the most consistent, Basped isn't going to start. He's been out for a while. They (Grambling State) are more of a running team."

If Eskew does start on Saturday, it would be his first collegiate start. John Bender, who started several games last year, is backing up Alonzo Durham at tackle.

TIGER TALK

Grambling State, under second-year head coach Rod Broadway, has just six seniors on its entire roster.

One of those is wide receiver Nick Lewis, who had six catches for 117 yards in the Tigers' second scrimmage of fall camp.

The Tigers start three freshmen on the offensive line. Broadway finally named sophomore Greg Dillon a starter for the opener.

TIGERS' BAND IN TOWN

The famed Grambling band will give a free concert at the Peppermill's Tuscany Ballroom Friday at 7 p.m.

The band, which has a great following throughout the country, will perform the entire halftime show on Saturday and then team with the Nevada band for a post-game show.

NEW STADIUM POLICIES

The university has taken a number of steps, including establishing a "zero tolerance" policy to promote a positive and safe environment.

Fans who behave inappropriately will face arrest or be directed to leave the stadium as well as face confiscation of event tickets. Officers from the University of Nevada, the Washoe County Sheriffs' Department as well as additional security personnel will be stationed at every gate.

Nevada will also have an alcohol response team with highly trained individuals on hand to deal with problems as well as additional volunteers to monitor alcohol sales in the concession areas.

Fans who appear intoxicated will be denied access. Alcohol will not be allowed to be taken into the stadium or consumed while standing in line. Kegs will not be allowed in the tailgating area. Smoking will not be allowed except for the designated area behind the bleachers in the north endzone.
