Puppies stolen from pet shop

Three teenage girls made off with two purebred puppies from Puppytown on Friday morning.

Clerk Samantha Vasser was in the shop at 1901 N. Carson St. about 11 a.m. when the three girls in their late teens entered and asked to look at a pug. After about half an hour, Vasser said she walked to the back of the store and the three ran out of the shop taking with them the 8-week-old female pug and a 4-month-old female chocolate Labrador.

A customer in a nearby shop saw two of the girls running north along the shopping center and rounding a corner.

Employees of Eternally Yours hair salon then saw two of the girls jump into a gold four-door Pontiac Grand Am and speed out of the parking lot.

Vasser said the total price of the dogs is $1,300. A felony grand larceny report was filed with the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

One of the girls is described as having shoulder-length platinum blond hair, with the ends dyed black. She stood about 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighed about 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans with white furry boots over them.

The second girl was described as having long red hair pulled back and freckles. She stood 5-feet-5-inches tall and was last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The third girl had a dark complexion with black hair. She stood about 5-feet-4-inches tall and was last seen wearing black pants and a black shirt.

The vehicle is a late-90s model Grand Am sedan with ridges on the doors. The windows were not tinted.

Puppytown owner Gary Nolan said he is offering a $200 reward for information leading to the return of the puppies.
