All-Sierra Nevada volleyball team chosen

Callie Black, Fallon: Since Fallon low in the Sierra League standings, Black was just an all-Sierra League honorable mention choice, but she was an outstanding all-around player as she was a statistical leader in many categories for the Greenwave and was a force at the net, averaging 1.6 blocks a game. She also averaged 1.6 kills a game. Black finished with 111 kills and 74 blocks in 70 games.

Megan Mitchell, Douglas: The Sierra League most valauable player finished the season with 634 assists, 145 blocks, 100 kills, 90 aces and 90 digs.

Taryn Williams, Douglas: An all-league first team choice, Williams finished the year with 250 kills, 95 digs, 52 blocks and 38 aces.

Jourdan Burke, Douglas: An all-league second team choice, Burke had 266 kills, 75 blocks, 67 digs and 40 aces.

Jessica Waggoner, Douglas: An all-league first team selection, Waggoner had 282 blocks, 177 kills and 38 aces.

Lauren Andrew, Whittell. Andrew was the NIAA 2A state tournament MVP, helping the Warriors win their sixth straight championship. Andrew, a junior, was an all-Northern 2A League first-team member who played both setter and outside hitter.

Nikki Schneider, Truckee: The senior co-captain earned first team all-league and all-3A state honors at outside hitter. In 67 games played in 2008, Schneider tallied 163 kills and 74 digs. She averaged 2.4 kills per game and was instrumental in helping lead Truckee to a 3A state runner-up finish.

Callan Finney, Truckee: The senior co-captain was voted to the first team all-league and all-state teams at outside hitter. In 68 games, she had 203 kills, 56 service aces and 176 digs. She averaged three kills per game and helped lead the Wolverines to a 3A state runner-up finish.

Kayla Baumgardner, North Tahoe: The Lakers' senior co-captain was voted Northern 2A Most Valuable Player. With 182 total kills in 61 games this past season, Baumgardner helped lead the Lakers to a 10-2 league record and a state tournament berth. Baumgardner signed a national letter of intent to play at Chico State University.

Kayla Lommori, Yerington: Arguably the state's best all-around player, Lommori finished the year with 579 kills, 110 blocks, 106 aces. For her career, Lommori set state records with 2,015 kills and 546 blocks. She led Yerington to three straight state titles. She has signed to play at Santa Clara. Career numbers- 2015 kills, 546 blocks

Kiara Ross, Yerington: Ross finished with 887 assists and 62 aces this season. Ross has received several offers to play at the next level, but remains undeciced.

Blaike King, Carson: An all-league first team pick, King had 180 kills, 107 digs and 30 aces on the year.

Danae Eckart, Carson: An all-league first team choice, Eckart was among Carson's defensive leaders and also an oustanding all-around player. Eckart had 88 kills, 41 assists, 210 digs and 45 aces on the season.

Sara Norris, Incline: The senior was an all-Northern 3A first team choice. In Northern 3A play, Norris had 151 kills, 162 digs, 48 blocks and 35 aces.

Honorable mention: Isabel Concha-Foley, Whittell; Darby Reeder, Whittell; Caroline Baghdikian, South Tahoe; Chelsea Madsen, South Tahoe; Nikki Keller, Carson; Shannon Earwood, Carson; Dama Cox, Yerington.
