Four sent to jail for possession of drugs

Four people were jailed Tuesday after methamphetamine and stolen Lyon County School District tools were recovered during a search of a Silver Springs home, according to a press release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.

Karen Carpenter, 42, of Silver Springs was booked on suspicion of trafficking a controlled substance, maintaining a residence for the use or sales of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sale, unlawful use of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, possession of dangerous pills without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana under an ounce. Her bail was set at $162,264.

Santino Gallegos, 19, of Silver Springs was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance; possession of stolen property; possession of marijuana under one ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $5,896.

Monique Mavraedis, 19, of Silver Springs was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance; possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana under one ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $5,896.

Melissa Woolman, 30, of Silver Springs was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $8,632.

According to the press release, the search came after a month-long investigation into methamphetamine sales in Silver Springs and Fernley.

When police arrived at the Bass Street home Tuesday morning they arrested a man and woman. A second woman and her daughter were arrested in Silver Springs allegedly delivering methamphetamine to a buyer.

The release states 12 grams of meth was recovered from that woman, but it does not state which person possessed the meth.

Investigators could not be reached Tuesday night for further comment.

Detectives also allegedly discovered a large amount of hand and power tools marked with the school district's initials or employee names in a shed next to the house.

Investigators believe the tools were stolen during a burglary Nov. 8 at the Lyon County School District bus depot in Fernley in which an estimated $50,000 in property was stolen.

Value of the recovered tools was estimated at more than $20,000, according to the release.
