NORTH TAHOE" Alpine Meadows and Sugar Bowl Ski Resort will welcome the season today thanks to the efforts of snowmakers.

Skiers and riders can now limber up on loose granular at Alpine, Sugar Bowl, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Squaw Valley USA in preparation for the real snow forecast through the weekend and into early next week.

Alpine will offer groomed trails today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. including intermediate and advanced terrain via Kangaroo Double Chair and Meadow Double Chair.

Sugar Bowl will open today with skiing and riding on the Trailblazer run off the Jerome Hill Express lift.

Lift tickets are priced at $30 for ages 13 and up and $15 for children ages 6-12.

Sugar Bowl will however be closing Monday through Thursday next week and will re-open permanently for the 08/09 season on Dec. 19.

Diamond Peak has delayed their opening day for more favorable conditions while Homewood Mountain Resort is holding out for Dec. 18.
