Colonel Glenn Petrenko

Colonel Glenn Petrenko passed away peacefully at his home Dec. 10, 2008. After retiring from the Army in 1978 as the Senior Army Advisor for the Nevada National Guard in Carson City, Mr. Petrenko was employed as a Program Manager with Lockheed Martin Corporation.

He graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Pennsylvania and from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. Col. Petrenko reported to active duty for the United States Army in 1952 and continued to serve his country for 26 years, 10 of which were overseas.

Col. Petrenko served one tour of duty in the Korean War and two tours of duty during Vietnam. He was awarded with the following: two Bronze Star Medals - one as Captain and one as Major, Meritorious Service Medal (1st OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Armed Forces of Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and RVN Armor Badge.

This officer and gentleman will be greatly missed by his beloved son Glenn Rhett Petrenko; daughter Nina Krob; son-in-law Tommy Krob; grandchildren Stephanie Petrenko, Rhett Petrenko, Casaundra Krob, and Tommy Glenn Krob.

A military burial will take place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, Nevada.
