The Carson City Airport is growing with the new Jet Ranch hangar, impending runway expansion and new instrument landing access.

Instrument Approach Procedure and Instrument Departure Procedure, now in use, make it easier for more pilots to land at and depart from the airport. By 2011, the airport will also add a new taxiway, expand current taxiways, add a new weather reporting system, and reconfigure the runway to reduce noise.

The Instrument Approach Procedure allows pilots to land in reduced visibility using GPS. Previously, the airport used Visual Flight Rules only.

The addition of the IAP was contingent on the removal of a 79-foot hill located at the northeast corner of the airport.

Jet Ranch at Carson City is an 82,400 square-foot facility on 3.3 acres at the east end of the Carson City Airport. The 12-building complex features 11 customized private aircraft hangars for sale or lease, some large enough to accommodate large jet aircrafts.

Jet Ranch is marketing to business aviation and private flyers.
