Patricia Emaline Haythorn Campbell, age 77 of Carson City passed away Dec. 23, 2008. She was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Omaha, Neb, to Harry and Emaline (Mentor) Haythorn.

Mrs. Campbell attended school in Ogallala, Neb. (K-2), Brady, Neb. (3-9), Brownell Hall in Omaha, Neb. (10) and graduated from Brady High School. She received an Associate of Arts from Stephens College for Women in Columbia, Mo., and a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. While at the university she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Mrs. Campbell was co-owner and operator of a nursery school in Albuquerque, N.M., taught KDG in Alliance, Neb., Mesa, Ariz., and Columbus, Ind., and a combination 3-4 in Grammer, Ind. She was a countess in the Court of Ak-Sar-Ben in Omaha, and was a member of AAUW and the Nebraska Cowbelles. Mrs. Campbell served as a children's choir mother, Brownie leader, school library volunteer and room mother in Illinois. In Connecticut, she served on the boards of American Field Service, Simsbury Music and Arts Council and the Simsbury Republican Woman's Club, where she was named volunteer of the year. Mrs. Campbell was a member of PEO and the 58 Club, and volunteered as a docent for the Historical Societies Massaco Plantation. She was also a member of the Republican Central Committee and volunteered at the Railroad Museum.

Mrs. Campbell married Donald L. Campbell June 8, 1957, in the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in North Platte, Neb. Since their marriage they have lived in Columbus, Ind., Springdale, Conn., Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil, Wheaton, Ill., and Simsbury, Conn., before retiring in Carson City.

She is survived by her daughters Judith Smock of Gilbert, Ariz. Sandra (Gordon) Walsh of Heath, Texas, and Cathy (Thomas) Kerwin of Naperville, Ill.; grandchildren Ryan and Joseph Smock, Aaron and Caroline Walsh, and Patrick and Emaline Kerwin; brother: Howard (Sue Ann) Haythorn of Maxwell, NE; nieces: Mary Helen Haythorn, Margaret (Darrell) Rugh, Ahna and Walker, Kenesaw, Neb.; nephews: Harry B. (Londa) Haythorn, Harry M. (Josie) and Emily Mataiya, Maxwell, Neb., and Beldora Haythorn, Ogallala, Neb.; cousins: Sally Haythorn Mayden, Ogallala, Neb., Craig (Jody) Haythorn, and Sage and Cord, Arthur, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Don.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Friday, at The Episcopal Church of Our Savior, North Platte, Neb. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Neb. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
