CHS ski sweeps Sage Ridge

The Carson High boys and girls ski teams took one more step toward qualifying for the NIAA State Championships by sweeping Sage Ridge on Tuesday.

Carson's boys beat Sage Ridge 87-38 and the CHS girls defeated Sage Ridge 90-11. The top two teams from the Sierra League will advance to state. Both the CHS boys and girls improved to 3-1 in league.

The CHS boys swept 9 of the top 10 spots on Tuesday. Spencer Brinson took first, finishing the giant slalom in 31.7 seconds while Clayton Hollett tied for second in 34.5. They were followed for Carson by Andy Hook in fourth (35.4), Nate Eng (35.9), Andrew Richards (36.6), Cameron Childers (36.9), Nik Marsh (37.6) and Levi Masterson (39.0).

Carson's girls swept the first nine spots. Kacey Potter won in 33.6 and was followed by Nicole Carlevato (37.2), Danielle Beasom (39.5), Tina Midboe (40.4), Katie Carter (40.5), Krissie Gunn (41.3), Katie Carlevato (47.8), Emma Kortemeier (50.1) and Becca Robertson (51.6).

CHS coach Adrienne Garbiel credited her team's continued development to her assistant coaches, Fred Steinle, Bill Boehnke, Curtis Kortemeier and Dennis Brinson.
