Capital City VB wins first tournament

The Capital City Volleyball Club's 14 Black team captured the title in its first tournament of the season, winning a Northern California Volleyball Association area league event in Sacramento on Sunday.

Comprised of eighth graders, the 14 Black team competed successfully against 16 and under (ninth and 10th graders) teams, winning four of five matches, including beating the only team that had defeated it earlier in the day in the finals.

Team members are: Carson City's Elena Charles, Sarah Lushina, Tiffany Patrick, and Kristalei Wolfe; Zephyr Cove's Megan Mize and Darby Reeder; Reno's Gabi Newman and Megan Schmauder; and Minden's Shelby Reed, Hedi Schefcik, and Savannah Woods.

The team is coached by Steve George and Mike Williams, who will be conducting a clinic for boys and girls in third through sixth grades on February 8 and 9, and a middle school clinic for girls in sixth through eighth grades on February 23 and 24. Patriot soccer to play in Mayor's Cup

The U-14 Boys Carson Patriots FC will be participate in the "platinum" level of the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Showcase Soccer Tournament on Febuary 16-18. The tournament features teams from all over the world and the U.S. The Patriots are in the U-14 Silver Soccer Zone Bracket No. 4 with teams from Arizona and Utah.
