Ross Miller, former owner of Heiss' Steakhouse and friend to many passed away February 8, 2008. after a short illness surrounded by the people who loved him most.

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Ross lived the last twenty-eight years in Carson City. He was an entrepreneur who operated Heiss' Steakhouse for 11 years and touched many lives in a personal way.

Melissa Rugge wrote, "As my brother, he was one of the greatest influences in my life as he inspired me to pursue a career in music. He was my greatest fan and my harshest critic. We did not always see eye to eye in many ways, but in matters of the heart we were on the same page. He possessed many talents that I believe he did not have the time to develop as he worked hard for so much of his life to provide a living, and then a workplace for his family and friends. I will miss his humorous and critical view of the world. He was a loving big brother to me and to many people in his life and we will miss his company for a long time to come."

Chris Miller says, "As my father I will miss his strength. I will miss his confidence, faith, and trust in me as his son to have character as I walk through life. My father taught me that simplicity is beautiful, and that I should embrace it. He also taught me that a musical connection between people is something that you can not take away, and I will always cherish the moments we spent together listening to great music. It is so much easier to walk through life when you know your father is watching and will be there to pick you up. As a son I will miss that comfort the most, and as I make my journey through life I will remember to be strong like my Dad, and walk tall."

Siegi Proctor summed it up so well and said, "He was a gentle soul, who loved music, and Lake Tahoe. But more importantly he loved and cherished his friends and family." Ross is survived by his long time companion, two sons, his brother, his sister, and many wonderful friends.

There will be a service in late May to honor Ross' life where his remains will be laid to rest in Lake Tahoe. Capital City Cremation and Burial Society has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
