A lifelong Nevada Resident

A daughter of a German Emigrant and a Pioneer Matriarch of Genoa passed away Monday Feb,25, 2008. She was born April 22, 1919 to Arnold and Lottie Juchtzer in Diamond Valley, Calif. Elsie was raised and spent her life in Carson Valley, Nevada.She lived a very full life as a Rancher's wife and as a Mom. She married Rufus W. Adams a historic Rancher of Genoa in 1944. She raised three sons, and was very involved in the community for 60+ years. She was the second Mom and role model for many area children. She was den mother in cub scouts, boy scouts, and right hand wife for a cattle rancher. Elsie was a Post mistress for the historic town of Genoa for a decade of years. Elsie worked to enrich the community with her support. She helped with Annual Candy Dance, the Genoa School plays ( for a one room school house), and many church activities. She was a member of the Carson Valley Homemakers Club, the Cattlewomen's Association, local P.T.A., and a Ham radio operator. In her lifetime She was a care giver, nanny, referee, seamstress, knitter, crocheter, needle pointer, excellent ranch hand and family cook, canner, avid gardener, tractor driver, hay hauler and whatever it took to make it happen.

Elsie has two surviving brothers, Ed Juchtzer (Carson City)/Dolores, Bill Juchtzer(Minden)/Elva, one sister Zelma Simpson(Orville, Ca)/Dean. Elsie was the oldest of seven children. She also leaves Three sons William Adams(Mexico)/Margery, Wallace Adams (Gardnerville)/Judy, John Adams(Reno)/Lisa.

A celebration of Elsie's life will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Coventry Cross Episcopal Church, Minden (corner of 8th & Esmeralda) and a gathering to follow in the parish hall.

Interment will be private at the Genoa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made in Elsie's memory to the Carson Valley Historical Society 1477 Hwy 395 North Gardnerville, Nevada 89410 or the Nevada Park Service Mormon Station/Genoa, P.O. Box 302, Genoa Nevada 89411.
