Fog in area; road controls

Today's weather includes patchy morning fog and cloudy with scattered showers in the morning then isolated showers in the afternoon with snow level at 6500 feet and southwest winds 10-15 mph.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with west winds 10-15 mph; lows 18-28.

The Nevada Department of Transportation notes at 6:37 a.m. the following road controls:

Highway 50 " Chains or snow tires required for 21.1 miles between 0.7 miles east of the California state line and 0.4 miles west of Highway 395 in South Carson City. Chains mandatory for 22.2 miles between 3.5 miles east of Kyburz and SR 89 in California.

Interstate 80 " Chains mandatory for 13.5 miles between Kingvale and 1.8 miles west of Truckee, Calif.

SR 89 " Road closed for 9.7 miles between 2.8 miles north of Highway 50 and 2 miles north of Bliss State Park.
