All sorts: It is said that a young girl at the Poor Farm, has been delivered of a child, the father being a married man of this city. The Grand Jury should take this matter up.


100 YEARS AGO


Gold bricks from the Keane Wonder - nearly $10,000 in gold bullion was brought in by automobile from the Keane Wonder mine by T.B. Rickey and E.J. Wright. Two of the bricks, weighing about 26 pounds and valued in the neighborhood of $7,000 were deposited with the First National Bank of Rhyolite, and the balance was taken to Goldfield and deposited with the State Bank and Trust company, of which Mr. Rickey is president.


70 YEARS AGO


Nevada relief rolls rising steadily from an all-time low of 1,000, are increasing and will probably reach 2,000 by the end of the week. Because of the steadily increasing load, Nevada's WPA allotment for this month has been increased accordingly.


50 YEARS AGO


Hospital awards wing contract to Sture Svensson. Construction cost of the new wing, which will provide needed space is about $100,000. Funds for construction came from the Fleischmann Foundation at $75,000 and $25,000 from hospital parties, including the 1957 party.


20 YEARS AGO


Rep. James V. Hansen, R-Utah, said he will introduce legislation to compensate those injured by radioactive fallout from the open air atomic weapons test in Nevada in the 1950s and 1960s. The suits, filed in 1979 by 1,192 residents of Utah, Arizona and Nevada, alleged the federal government was negligent in failing to properly warn people living downwind of the tests about the dangers of fallout.


10 YEARS AGO


Sgt. George Sullivan University of Nevada policeman, 43 and father of five, was slain at the University of Nevada. Reno, Sparks and Washoe departments have all provided investigators to search for evidence.
