Russell "Andy" McDonald, 60, lifetime resident of the Dresslerville-Gardnerville area, passed away suddenly on July 2, 2008, while at his work as the ranch manager for the Washoe Tribe. He was born July 26, 1947 in Dresslerville.

Andy graduated from Stewart Indian High School in 1966 and immediately went into the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam conflict. He was a very respected man of the community and the entire valley. Andy was a member of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, an honorable member of the Washoe Tribal Council, member of Washoe Development Enterprises and was Vice Chairman of the Dresslerville Community Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Leona McDonald, daughter Cheryl Lynn McDonald, Sister Madrene Evans and niece Donna Koos.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gloria McDonald; son Curtis Cloud of Gardnerville; two daughters Lisa Sam of Gardnerville and Stephanie Ridley of Carson City; three brothers Wilford, Roger and Calvin McDonald all of Dresslerville; five sisters Justine Koos, Carolyn Ewing, Charlotte McDonald and Madeline McDonald all of Gardnerville, Jeanette Blevins of San Diego, Calif.; three granddaughters, Tia and Jolyn Sam and Alyssa Ridley and grandson Bryce Ridley.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 8 in the Dresslerville Community Center. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Woodfords Indian Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
