Appeal Staff Report

The Carson Prep 13-year-old Babe Ruth all-star baseball team stayed alive in the State Tournament with a 6-3 win over Carson Valley on Thursday in Elko.

Carson opened with a 6-2 loss to Elko on Wednesday. Against Carson Valley, Tyler Valley pitched six shutout innings for the win.

Danny Okimura went 3-for-4, Logan Krupp had three RBI and Rafe King had an RBI and also played outstanding defense.

Carson played outstanding defense, making just one error. Among the defensive leaders was shortstop Casey Wolfe, who made several outsanding plays, including turning a game-ending double play.

Against Elko, David Yamamoto did provide an outstanding effort on the mound for Carson, striking out six while scattering seven hits and allowing just one earned run. Carson also received outstanding defense from outfielders Andrew Hudacko and Alex Holcomb.

Carson will play in another elimination game at 6 p.m. today against Reno West.
