Summer shade tree seminar Saturday


David Ruf will present "Cool Trees for Summer Shade" seminar 9 a.m. Saturday at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St. Ruf will give a walking tour in the nursery of different shade trees that do well in the hot, dry summer climate. The seminar is free. For more information, call 882-8600.


Committee seeks donations for mural


Donations of interior and exterior glossy, semi-gloss, and satin finish water-based latex pains in a variety of colors, nontoxic aerosol spray paints, paint brushes, paint rollers, drop cloths, painting tape trays, stirring sticks and clean-up supplies are sought by the Parent Advisory Committee of the Carson Colony.


The Committee is launching an art and mural program to provide a positive outlet for preteens, adolescents and young adults interested in helping to beautify their community's public and residential spaces through mural painting. Happy Senior Tours bus trip May 14


Happy Senior Tours will take their monthly bus trip May 14 and go to Boomtown.


The bus will leave at 8:15 a.m. from the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive, parking lot, at the east side of the building. Cost of the trip is $16 per person. For information, call 882-3352.


Footprint Association to meet


Carson Valley Chapter 72 of International Footprint Association monthly dinner meeting 6 p.m. May 15 at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St. Reservations should be made by Thursday.

Sesquicentennial Committee seeks crafters and vendors


Carson City Sesquicentennial Committee is seeking crafters and vendors to be part of the Sesquicentennial by participating in one of the two events Aug. 16.


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada Annual Carnival, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. or the Sesquicentennial Birthday Celebration Chili Cookoff and Craft Fair noon- 6 p.m., Nugget Parking Lot.
