Lyon County police are investigating a break-in this weekend in which power was cut to the Mound House General Store and Walt's Ya'll Come Back Saloon off Affonso Drive.

Sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Powell said the burglary was discovered just after 5 p.m. Saturday when an employee of the market opened the business.

"They cut the power lines and telephone lines and pried open the back doors," said Powell.

The suspects stole the safes from both establishments, the contents of an ATM machine and also the surveillance video tape out of the bar's recorder. Nothing else appeared to be disturbed, Powell said.

He said it's thought that whomever is responsible knew what they were looking for and how to get it. Officers suspect more than one person is responsible because it would take two people to carry off the safes.

"Based on the damage on the door, they had to work on it for a little while to get it opened," said Powell. "The bar door had four deadbolts on it."

Anyone who may have heard clanging from the break-in, or who saw anything unusual between midnight and 5 a.m. Saturday is asked to call Lyon County non-emergency dispatch at 775-577-5023
