LAS VEGAS " A jury has spared the life of the man convicted of beating to death his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter and then dumping her in a trash bin.
A Las Vegas jury on Friday sentenced Marc Anthony Colon to life in prison for the 2006 slaying of Crystal Figueroa, also known as Jane "Cordova" Doe.
His co-defendant and the girl's mother, Gladys Perez, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.
The jury could have sentenced Colon to death. Perez could have been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
