The Carson Senators Tiny Mite Blue youth football team played through a snow storm and fought off wet and cold to defeat the Truckee Wolverines 18-6 on Friday night at Governor's Field.

Carson began the game and went three downs and out, but after acclimating to the weather were able to move the ball effectively. Adam Fenton kept the Wolverine defense honest with strong running up the middle, which allowed Colton Schafer to run on the outside for three touchdowns.

Center Dean Poppenga III and quarterback Jacob Sorber were effective all night with the snap in cold conditions. Malak Kangas, Kevin Tooke, Cody Neal, Braxton Carter Gabriel Tatro, Paul Honein, and Chance Sanders blocked well on the offensive line.

Defensively, cornerbacks Fenton and Tatro did not allow any runs outside. Linemen Connor McCleary, Carter, Garrett Tibma, Brandon Mendoza, Peter Honein and Kangas effectively stopped the inside run efforts of the Wolverines. Linebackers Sasha Keith-Handschuh and Schafer were in on nearly every tackle. Safety Garrett Wilson contained and pursued all ball carriers.

The next contest for the 4-2 Tiny Mites Blue is Friday at Stodick Park in Gardnerville where it will take on the Douglas Black squad.
